Mary A. (McVey) Atkinson

Atkinson, Mary A. (nee McVey), 84, of Winter Haven, FL, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 19, 2017.  Dearly beloved mother to Maryanne Atkinson, Sara Dill, and James Atkinson III (Wendi). Loving Gam/Gram to Rachel and Cody Dill, and James IV, Robert and Ashlyn Atkinson.  Adored sister of Joan McVey, Kitty Atkinson (Ricky), Claire Erghott (Dutch) and great, long-time friend of Martha Dunn.  She is predeceased by her husband James Atkinson Jr. and her parents, Joseph and Mae McVey.

Born in Philadelphia, PA and later moving to Washington Twp., NJ, Mary spent most of her life as an ICU nurse.  This love and caring for people overflowed into every aspect of her life.  Her faith and devotion to God was beautiful; she had a sweetly kind and loving heart, and could light up a room with her smile, her joyful presence, and her humor. She will be missed greatly by so many that knew and loved her. Mary enjoyed reading and gardening, and loved her volunteer work at Regeneration Thrift Shop.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service in celebration of her life on Saturday, February 4th, at 10:00 am, at Providence Church, 430 Hannum Ave., West Chester, PA 19380 with a luncheon for all to be held after (including hot fudge sundaes, her favorite food!). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Regeneration Thrift Shop (saintmatthewcatholicchurch.org) or to the Neema Project (neema.org).
