Paying for Funeral & Cremation Expenses

There are three major factors which make up the total cost of a funeral.

  • Professional Service charges, which include all charges which are provided by the funeral home and staff.
  • Merchandise Selected, include, caskets, vaults, urns, clothing, or anything else which is sold by the funeral home.
  • Cash advancements, which include monies distributed by the funeral home for services not provided by the funeral home. Some examples are certified death certificates, flowers, church fee's, cemetery costs and publication of newspaper obituaries.

When it comes to providing funding for funerals, we offer the following Eight Options:

Insurance Policy Assignment

No need to write a check to pay for anything, including cemetery and church charges, flowers, death certificates, newspaper notices or additional merchandise.

One of the easiest forms of payment of a funeral service is the assignment of a verifiable life insurance policy. Most people do have life insurance policies and with the beneficiary's consent, the policy can be used to pay for ALL funeral related services provided by our funeral home.

This form of payment allows the purchaser to use the proceeds of the insurance policy to cover the entire cost of the funeral. The funeral director in charge will produce the necessary forms which will be signed by the beneficiary. These forms will be sent to the insurance company along with a funeral bill. By indicating that the funeral bill be paid from insurance proceeds, the insurance company will pay the total funeral bill from the insurance benefits, with the remaining amount being returned DIRECTLY to the beneficiary with no hidden charges.

Pre-arranged and Pre-paid Funeral

Today, more and more people are taking the necessary steps to ensure that their final wishes are documented and financial provisions have been made for them. Typically a person will meet with a funeral director, provide statistical and obituary information and select merchandise. A file will be created, and monies will be either placed in an irrevocable burial account or a paid up life insurance policy. If a consumer does already own life insurance, it can be transferred to the funeral home as consideration of payment. More information is always available by calling our funeral home or making an appointment for a no-obligation meeting with a funeral director.

Cash, Check or Money Order

On the day of the funeral service, the purchaser may produce one of the above forms of payment to the funeral director in charge. By making prior arrangements, a discount will be allowed on all funeral home charges, excluding cash advancements. Ask for more details.

Credit Card Payment

Our funeral home does accept VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVER. These payments can be applied to all funeral home charges. Since cash advancements must be pre-paid, they are not eligible for credit card payments, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Instant Funeral Credit financing

Introducing Family Shield Credit, a program that gives families one less thing to worry about after enduring the loss of a loved one. Using Family Shield Credit, families can borrow funds to cover all elements of a funeral expense — from the funeral service to family travel to the post-service luncheon — and everything in between.

By offering the preceding eight options available to our consumers, we try to make it easy to provide for the funding of the services which you select. In order to keep our costs reasonable, we do not offer payment plans through our funeral home, but upon your request, we will suggest reputable lending institutions which do provide loans.

As an area leader in providing affordable funeral & cremation services, it is our policy to provide first class service to all the families we serve. We respect the dignity of those we serve and we ask that if you are dealing with limited funds, please do not hesitate to tell us of your circumstances and we will tailor a service to fit your budget.
