Richard (Rick) Foster Calef, Jr. age 58, a resident of Exton, PA, died unexpectedly in hs sleep early Sunday morning January 8, 2017 from complications due to diabetes.  He was the beloved son of Richard Sr. and Ann (nee Shepard) Calef of West Chester.  

Rick was born in Pittsfield, MA on Dec. 16, 1958.  After the family located to the West Chester area in 1966, Rick attended local schools prior to entering the Valley Forge Military Academy for his last two years of high school.  He was active in Little League and Legion baseball and played on the varsity football and baseball teams at VFMA, where he was MVP of his senior baseball team.  Upon  graduation in 1976, Rick attended West Chester University and then entered the workplace in the banking and financial field.  Rick was an avid golfer, pool player and a knowledgeable Eagles, Phillies and Penn State fan, but his biggest love was spending time with family and friends.  He was proud of his children, who both graduated from Penn State, and excited to be a recent grandfather.  Rick was a Sales Associate with AAA in Downingtown, at the time of his death.

In addition to his parents, Rick is survived by his son Ryan E. Calef and his wife Christine and their one year old son Robert of Blue Bell, PA; daughter Olivia Calef and partner Evan West of Crofton, MD; sister Jennifer and her husband James householder of Exton; brother Stephen and his wife Donita of Chester Springs; nieces Megan Guthrie, Kaitlin Guthrie, Morgan Calef, Paige Calef; and many cousins. 

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Rick's life which will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Logan Funeral Home, 698 E. Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA  19341.   Family and friends may also visit  2-3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
