Arthur Patrick McDonald

January 5, 1922 ~ April 11, 2015 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Arthur Patrick  McDonald, 93, formerly of Broomall, PA, now of The Carlisle, Naples, FL, died at Avow Hospice on April 11, 2015 surrounded by his family.


Arthur was born at home in Philadelphia, one of 13 siblings.
Dad was predeceased by his devoted wife, Rosemary.  Together, Rosie and Art were members of Imperial and Chester Valley Country Clubs and enjoyed golfing with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling and made many friends along the way.
Arthur was a humble, kind, and generous man who only wanted to see his family happy and secure.  A captain serving with the 11th Airborne Division in the Philippines and New Guinea during WW II, he was wounded twice and was awarded the Purple Heart and other medals as he trained guerillas in the Southern Philippines in preparation for the return of MacArthur.
Mac was the Executive Vice President of Oliver B. Cannon and Son, Inc.,  Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA for many years and eventually was part of an investment group that purchased the industrial painting firm from his employers.

He is survived by his son, Arthur Patrick (Lori) McDonald Jr. and daughter, Sharon (Robert) Zachow, grandchildren, Kelly, Casey, Melissa and Geoffrey (Brynne), and great-grandson, Jake.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 24, 2015  at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 W. Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA.19073.  Friends may also call at the church from 10-10:45 AM.  Interment St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
